Abu Dhabi, February 22, 2023: In a new achievement added to the achievements of the state and the capital, Abu Dhabi, the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation announced that the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation won the Best Host Federation Award for the year 2022.

This honor came after the success of the Federation, which is the official organizing body for this sport in the UAE, in hosting two world championships in one year, as the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation received the award during the annual meeting of the General Assembly of the International Federation of Mixed Martial Arts.

Regarding this achievement, His Excellency Brigadier General Muhammad Humaid bin Dalmuj Al Dhaheri, Member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Chairman of the Federation’s Mixed Martial Arts Committee, says: “We dedicate this award to our wise leadership, the family of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation headed by His Excellency Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, and the work teams and organizing committees that have established standards.” “It is a world-class organization in hosting tournaments amidst great international acclaim.”

He adds: “Our selection as the best host association for the year 2022 represents a reward for the continuous efforts made by the work team over the past months. This was the first time ever that any country hosted two world mixed martial arts championships within one year. They are the Senior and Youth World Championships in January and the World Junior Championships in August. This gives us a strong motivation to make more efforts and enhance our distinguished position, especially as Abu Dhabi prepares to host the World Junior Mixed Martial Arts Championship next August.”

The award was received on behalf of the Federation by Mr. Mohammed Al Hosani, member of the Federation’s Martial Arts Committee, in the presence of His Excellency Brigadier General Mohammed Humaid bin Dalmuj Al Dhaheri, Member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Chairman of the Mixed Martial Arts Committee.

The General Assembly of the International Federation of Mixed Martial Arts held its meeting on Friday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Novi Belgrade, in the presence of 45 members. The meeting witnessed the adoption of many decisions regarding accepting full membership of new federations, including Kuwait and the United States of America, in addition to accepting members as observers for countries such as Palestine and South Korea.
